• Hebrew Bible and Second Temple literature (particularly Jeremiah, Deutero-Isaiah, the so-called Deuteronomistic History, the Letter of Jeremiah, and the Wisdom of Solomon)
• War and collective violence in the Hebrew Bible
• The conquest of Jerusalem and the Babylonian exile
• Historiography and concepts of history 
• Redaction history, scribal textual production and reworking
• Discourse theory, discourse analysis from the perspective of the sociology of knowledge

Since 2017, Sonja Ammann has been Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament in Basel. She studied Protestant Theology in Lausanne, Buenos Aires, and Heidelberg and received her doctorate from the University of Göttingen in 2014 ("Götter für die Toren. Die Verbindung von Götterpolemik und Weisheit im Alten Testament", BZAW 466, Berlin: De Gruyter, 2015). From 2012 to 2017 she was Research Associate in the chair for the History of Israel in the Ancient Near Eastern World at the Humboldt University of Berlin.
