Curriculum Vitae

Andrea Bieler is Professor of Practical Theology at the Faculty of Theology in Basel (2017-present). Her current research interests are the interface between practical and intercultural theologies with an emphasis on migration and religion.
Her current research project (2020- present) is funded by Swiss National Science Foundation: Conviviality in Motion. Exploring Theologies and Practices of Multiethnic Christian Congregations in Europe. Other research interests and projects surround basic phenomena such as vulnerability,  cultures of memory in a trauma-hermeneutical perspective, and the thematization of collective violence.
Andrea  Bieler is a theologian with extensive international experience of practical and liturgical theology. Her past positions include Professor of Practical Theology (2012-2016) at the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal, Professor of Theology and Religion and Full Professor at the Pacific School of Religion and the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California (2000-2012). She was a member of the international research network The Enhancing Life Project at the University of Chicago (2016-2018).
